Catheterization Laboratory Nurse
Job Description
A healthcare organization in Port Harcourt is seeking a skilled Catheterization Laboratory Nurse to provide specialized care for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures. This role requires clinical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to support patient safety before, during, and after procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for cardiac catheterization procedures and provide pre-procedure education
- Assist cardiologists during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures
- Monitor patients’ vital signs, ECG, and hemodynamic parameters throughout procedures
- Deliver post-procedure care, including site assessment, bleeding control, and stabilization
- Ensure all Cath Lab equipment, medications, and sterile supplies meet required standards
- Maintain accurate patient records, procedure documentation, and incident reports
- Follow infection control guidelines, safety protocols, and hospital policies
- Collaborate with cardiologists, anesthetists, radiographers, and other healthcare professionals
Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid practicing license
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Cardiology, or Interventional Radiology unit
- BLS and ACLS certifications
- Strong knowledge of cardiac procedures, ECG monitoring, and hemodynamic monitoring
- Excellent clinical, communication, and teamwork skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment
