Job Description

The Chief Sustainability & Strategy Officer will lead Kaltani’s sustainability, ESG, and long-term growth strategy. This role focuses on driving measurable environmental impact, strengthening global credibility, and aligning sustainability initiatives with business performance. It combines strategy, climate finance, and circular economy innovation to position the organization as a leader in sustainable waste management across Africa.

Salary: N30,000,000 – N35,000,000 per annum

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement corporate sustainability and ESG strategies aligned with global standards and national policies
  • Establish measurable frameworks for environmental and social impact, including waste diversion and carbon reduction
  • Lead carbon and plastic credit initiatives, including project design, registration, and monetization
  • Oversee sustainability reporting and ensure compliance with international frameworks such as GRI and TCFD
  • Build and manage strategic partnerships with investors, donor agencies, and development finance institutions
  • Drive business expansion through sustainability-focused projects such as recycling, biogas, and landfill gas capture
  • Provide advisory support on circular economy policies and regulatory frameworks
  • Lead corporate strategy development, market analysis, and long-term growth planning

Requirements

  • 10–15+ years of experience in sustainability, ESG, climate finance, or circular economy leadership
  • Proven experience in ESG implementation, carbon markets, or sustainability-driven project financing
  • Strong background in waste management, recycling, or industrial sustainability programs
  • Familiarity with donor-funded projects, DFIs, and public-private partnerships
  • Advanced degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Economics, Engineering, or a related field
  • Professional certifications in ESG, Climate Finance, or Environmental Management are an advantage
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills
  • International or emerging market experience is an added advantage
