Job Description

An experienced and results-oriented Head of Engineering is required to oversee all engineering and maintenance operations within a fast-paced production facility in Lagos. The role involves ensuring maximum machine efficiency, reducing downtime, enforcing safety compliance, and driving continuous improvement across engineering systems and processes. The ideal candidate will provide strong technical leadership and coordinate cross-functional teams to support production excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the engineering and maintenance team to ensure smooth and uninterrupted production operations
  • Develop and execute preventive and corrective maintenance schedules for all machinery and equipment
  • Monitor and improve machine performance to minimize downtime and enhance operational efficiency
  • Oversee installation, calibration, and commissioning of new equipment and production machines
  • Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards across all engineering activities
  • Manage engineering budgets, spare parts inventory, and vendor/technical service provider relationships
  • Prepare and present engineering performance reports and maintenance records for management review
  • Train, mentor, and develop engineering staff to improve technical capacity and productivity
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality Control, and Warehouse teams to achieve operational targets

Requirements Instruction
Applicants are expected to meet the following qualifications and experience criteria. Only candidates with relevant engineering background and proven leadership experience in a manufacturing or production environment will be considered.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering
  • Minimum of 8–10 years relevant experience in a manufacturing or production environment
  • At least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial engineering role
  • Strong knowledge of industrial machinery, utilities, and maintenance systems
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams and deliver results under pressure
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills
  • Experience in maintenance planning, reporting systems, and engineering documentation
