Job Description

Firstnext News Nigeria Limited is a media organization focused on delivering timely, accurate, and engaging news content across multiple platforms. The company is seeking a talented Video Editor to create compelling visual stories that inform, educate, and engage audiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Edit and produce high quality video content for news reports, features, interviews, and special projects.
  • Collaborate with reporters, producers, and editors to create engaging visual narratives that align with editorial objectives.
  • Use professional video editing software such as Filmora, CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve to deliver polished content.
  • Apply Artificial Intelligence tools and technologies where appropriate to improve editing workflows and content production.
  • Ensure all video content meets editorial standards, quality requirements, and publication deadlines.
  • Respond quickly to breaking news events and deliver timely video coverage when required.
  • Organize, manage, and maintain video files, media assets, and production equipment.
  • Stay informed about current events and emerging trends in digital media and video production.

Requirements
  • Degree or Diploma in Film Production, Media Production, Mass Communication, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Video Editor, preferably within a television station, newsroom, or media organization.
  • Strong proficiency in professional video editing software and post production techniques.
  • Knowledge and practical use of Artificial Intelligence tools in video production workflows.
  • Excellent storytelling, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Understanding of journalism ethics, newsroom operations, and editorial standards.
  • Experience with drone operations, live streaming, or Mobile Journalism (MoJo) will be an added advantage.
  • Flexibility to work outside regular hours, including weekends and during breaking news situations.
  • A portfolio or showreel showcasing previous video editing or video journalism projects.
