Legal Officer
Job Description
A firm is seeking a competent and commercially aware Legal Officer to provide legal advisory services, manage contracts, support regulatory compliance, and assist with dispute resolution. The ideal candidate will have strong legal drafting skills, sound professional judgement, and the ability to identify and mitigate legal risks.
Location: Gbagada, Lagos
Salary: ₦400,000 monthly
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice on corporate, contractual, employment, and operational matters.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and manage contracts and other legal documents.
- Monitor compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Support debt recovery, dispute resolution, litigation management, and engagement with external counsel.
- Review loan documentation, guarantees, and security documents where applicable.
- Conduct legal research and advise management on relevant legal developments.
- Maintain legal records, contract registers, and statutory documentation.
- Identify legal risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
Key Requirements
- LL.B. degree and qualification as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
- Minimum of 5 years’ post-call experience.
- Strong knowledge of contract law, corporate law, employment law, and dispute resolution.
- Experience in financial services, microfinance, debt recovery, NGO operations, or corporate legal practice is an advantage.
- Excellent legal drafting, negotiation, research, and analytical skills.
- High professional integrity, confidentiality, and sound judgement.
