Job Description
A firm is seeking a hands-on and experienced Legal Manager to oversee the day-to-day legal affairs of the business and provide practical legal support across contracts, corporate governance, regulatory compliance and disputes.
Location: Lagos, Nigeria
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts, including charter party, offshore/vessel services, manning & crewing agreements, SLAs, consultancy/supervisor contracts, subcontracts, POs and NDAs.
- Manage corporate secretarial matters, including CAC filings, annual returns, board/shareholder resolutions and statutory records in line with CAMA 2020.
- Track and renew business registrations, permits and licences, and support tender/prequalification submissions.
- Manage disputes, litigation and arbitration matters, including liaising with and supervising external counsel.
- Draft legal correspondence, demand letters and settlement documentation.
- Maintain the contract register and legal template library.
- Supervise the Junior Legal Officer and legal interns.
Key Requirements
- LL.B and BL; must be called to the Nigerian Bar.
- 4–6 years post-call experience.
- Strong contract drafting and negotiation experience.
- Working knowledge of CAMA 2020 and Nigerian corporate secretarial practice.
- Experience in Oil & Gas, Marine, EPC or Construction is an added advantage.
- Strong communication, organisational and matter-management skills, with the ability to work independently and provide practical legal advice to non-legal stakeholders.
