Job Description

Virtual Nation is seeking a skilled Web Developer to build, maintain, and improve its website and web applications across both front-end and back-end environments. The role involves creating reliable, high-performing digital experiences, integrating third-party services, and ensuring websites are fast, secure, responsive, and SEO-friendly.

Location: Remote

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and improve websites and web applications across the front-end and back-end.
  • Design and implement APIs and database structures to support web functionality.
  • Write clean, efficient, well-documented, and maintainable code.
  • Optimise websites for speed, performance, security, and SEO.
  • Integrate APIs and third-party services into web applications.
  • Ensure cross-browser compatibility and mobile responsiveness.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and implement new features and improvements.
  • Collaborate with designers and team members to deliver high-quality digital experiences.
  • Participate in code reviews and maintain established code quality standards.
  • Stay updated on emerging web development technologies and industry best practices.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in web development, covering both front-end and back-end development.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frameworks such as React, Next.js, Vue.js, or similar.
  • Experience with back-end frameworks and languages such as Node.js, Express.js, or similar.
  • Experience working with database systems such as MongoDB, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
  • Strong understanding of responsive web design and mobile-first development.
  • Knowledge of Git and version control systems.
  • Understanding of website performance, security, and SEO best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Background in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with TypeScript.
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and GraphQL.
  • Experience with testing frameworks such as Jest, Mocha, or similar.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines.
  • A portfolio or GitHub profile showcasing previous web development projects.
