Job Description

WakaEat is seeking a skilled Backend Software Developer to support the development and launch of its food delivery platform. This role involves working closely with the technical team to enhance backend systems, integrate payment solutions, support mobile applications, and resolve technical challenges ahead of launch. The ideal candidate should be able to contribute quickly within an existing codebase and thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.

Location: Lagos (Remote) – Onsite collaboration required when requested
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: N300,000 Monthly (Probation), N400,000 Monthly (Post-probation)

Job Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services within a microservices architecture.
• Build and manage integrations with payment platforms including Stripe and Flutterwave.
• Support the stability and performance of React Native mobile applications on iOS and Android.
• Identify and resolve bugs, system issues, and pre-launch technical blockers.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on AWS infrastructure and deployment activities.
• Provide regular progress updates and technical reports to the Technical Lead.
• Contribute to code improvements and platform scalability initiatives.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is an advantage.
• 3–6 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Node.js or Python backend development.
• Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Familiarity with React Native or mobile application development.
• Working knowledge of AWS services and Git version control.
• Must be based in Lagos and available to start immediately.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience integrating Stripe and/or Flutterwave payment solutions.
• Previous experience working on food delivery, marketplace, or e-commerce platforms.
• Experience in startup environments or supporting product launches.
