Job Description

The Communication Associate will support the Head of Communications & Impact in executing day-to-day communication activities across digital, media, internal, and stakeholder channels. The role focuses on delivering consistent, high-quality, and trauma-informed messaging that aligns with safeguarding standards while strengthening visibility and advocacy efforts.

Key Responsibilities
Social Media & Content Creation

  • Develop and manage monthly social media content calendars across Instagram, X, Facebook, and LinkedIn
  • Create engaging written, visual, and multimedia content to support awareness campaigns and programmes
  • Manage newsletters including content creation, scheduling, distribution, and performance tracking
  • Translate sensitive programme work into ethical, trauma-informed storytelling
  • Monitor social media engagement and prepare monthly performance reports and insights
  • Collaborate with programme teams to document impact stories and field activities

Media Relations & Public Relations

  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists and media partners
  • Draft press releases, media statements, advisories, and opinion pieces
  • Support media coordination for interviews, campaigns, and public events
  • Track media coverage and prepare press reports for leadership
  • Assist in crisis communication processes where required

Internal Communications & Documentation

  • Support internal newsletters, announcements, and organizational updates
  • Document programmes, trainings, workshops, and stakeholder engagements
  • Assist in planning internal meetings, town halls, and staff communications
  • Ensure timely and accurate dissemination of organizational information

Design, Digital & Website Management

  • Create visual content using Canva or Adobe Suite for campaigns and reports
  • Maintain brand consistency across all communication materials
  • Update website content, including reports, publications, and news updates
  • Support presentation design for leadership, board, and donor engagements

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Mass Communication, or related field
  • 2–4 years of experience in communications, preferably in NGO or development sector
  • Strong experience managing social media platforms and content creation
  • Basic graphic design skills using Canva or Adobe Suite
  • Experience in storytelling within social impact or advocacy environments
  • Familiarity with analytics tools such as Meta Business Suite or Google Analytics
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling ability
  • High emotional intelligence and ability to handle sensitive content
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
  • Professional discretion when handling confidential information

Salary
