Community Lead at a Global Integrated Energy Company – WTS Energy

A global integrated energy company is seeking an experienced Community Lead to oversee community relations and stakeholder engagement for its Exploration & Production operations in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The ideal candidate will build strong relationships with host communities, government agencies, traditional institutions, and other stakeholders while supporting sustainable development initiatives and ensuring smooth project operations.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong relationships with host communities, traditional rulers, youth groups, NGOs, CBOs, and government authorities.
• Resolve community-related conflicts and implement strategies that promote peaceful operations and stakeholder cooperation.
• Coordinate stakeholder meetings, negotiations, and engagement activities while maintaining accurate reports and meeting records.
• Support the planning and execution of community development initiatives aligned with sustainability objectives.
• Identify and manage community-related risks, grievances, and operational concerns.
• Monitor community contractor activities and promote local content participation where appropriate.
• Assist in implementing communication and stakeholder engagement strategies.
• Deputize for the Community Affairs Manager when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Management Sciences, Social Sciences, Law, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of industry experience, with experience in Community Relations considered an advantage.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent conflict resolution and crisis management abilities.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and the ability to work effectively with diverse communities.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Experience in contract administration, planning, or cost control is an added advantage.
