Job Description

A career opportunity is available for an experienced Data Center Technician to join Kennedia Consulting Limited (KCL) in the oil and gas sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mission critical IT infrastructure, including servers, networking equipment, and structured cabling within a data center environment. This role is ideal for professionals with extensive hands on experience in data center operations and infrastructure support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, rack, and configure servers, switches, routers, storage devices, and other data center equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, hardware troubleshooting, firmware upgrades, and equipment replacements.
  • Provide remote hands support, including power cycling, cable reseating, console access, and basic troubleshooting using SSH and PuTTY.
  • Manage fiber optic and Ethernet cabling, ensuring proper routing, labeling, and structured cable organization.
  • Maintain accurate asset inventories, update technical documentation, and manage support tickets using ServiceNow or similar platforms.
  • Ensure compliance with data center security policies, operational procedures, and safety standards.
Job Requirements
  • HND or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a data center environment or IT infrastructure support role.
  • Strong knowledge of server hardware, networking fundamentals, and fiber and Ethernet cabling.
  • Proven experience with rack and stack deployment, hardware maintenance, and structured cable management.
  • Experience providing remote hands support and managing IT asset inventories.
  • Proficiency with ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems.
  • Hands on experience using SSH, PuTTY, and other network administration tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication, and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work safely in a physically demanding data center environment.
