Job Description
Moniepoint Incorporated is seeking a Data Protection Officer to support its Compliance Team in implementing and maintaining a robust data protection framework in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023 and other relevant regulations. This role involves overseeing data processing activities, ensuring compliance, managing privacy risks, and handling data subject requests across the organization.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor compliance with data protection policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements (NDPA 2023, NDPC directives, and CBN regulations)
- Maintain and update the Record of Processing Activities (RoPA) and support data protection compliance audits
- Manage and respond to Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) and other privacy rights requests within required timelines
- Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and identify privacy risks in collaboration with IT and Risk teams
- Oversee third-party data processors, ensuring proper agreements and ongoing compliance
- Lead data protection awareness training and support organization-wide privacy education initiatives
- Handle data breach incidents, including documentation, investigation, and regulatory reporting
- Support regulatory engagements and ensure timely responses to NDPC and other relevant authorities
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
- 7–10 years of experience in Data Protection, IT Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC), or Cybersecurity
- Professional certifications such as CIPP/E, CDPO, or CIPM are required
- Strong knowledge of NDPA 2023, NDPC regulations, CBN IT standards, and global frameworks like GDPR
- Solid understanding of data privacy principles, risk management, and data governance
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- High attention to detail and ability to identify compliance risks
- Proficiency in data governance tools and documentation processes
