Job Description
WakaEat is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to support the deployment and management of its cloud infrastructure as it builds a global African food marketplace launching in Lagos and Washington DC. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional with proven AWS expertise who can independently execute infrastructure deployment, optimize system performance, and ensure backend services remain stable and scalable.
Location: Lagos (Remote) – Onsite collaboration required when requested

Job Responsibilities
- Deploy and manage backend microservices on AWS ECS
- Set up, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
- Manage AWS infrastructure including ECS, RDS, MemoryDB, Route 53, and Secrets Manager
- Configure SSL certificates and oversee domain management processes
- Set up and maintain environment variables across multiple services
- Monitor infrastructure performance and troubleshoot deployment issues
- Prepare comprehensive technical documentation and handover materials for internal teams
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure timely and successful project delivery
Job Requirements
- Proven hands-on experience with AWS services, particularly ECS, RDS, and Route 53
- Strong experience with Docker and containerized application deployments
- Demonstrated experience with GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD tools
- Ability to work independently and deliver results within tight deadlines
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Fluent in English
- Available to start immediately
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in startup environments
- Experience building and deploying microservices architectures
- Background in food technology, e-commerce, or marketplace platforms
Salary
Probation Period (4 Months): N300,000 per month
Post-Probation: Salary review based on performance
