Head of Operations at a Microfinance Bank

Job Description

A reputable Microfinance Bank, through Westfield Consulting Limited, is seeking an experienced and results-driven Head of Operations to oversee branch operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver exceptional customer service. The successful candidate will provide operational leadership, supervise banking activities, and implement efficient processes that support the bank’s strategic objectives while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy, security, and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise daily banking operations, including cash management, customer service, funds transfer, clearing, and account administration.
• Ensure customers’ requests and complaints are handled promptly, professionally, and in line with service standards.
• Monitor compliance with banking policies, internal procedures, and regulatory requirements across all operational activities.
• Authorize transactions within approved limits and ensure accurate documentation for all banking transactions.
• Oversee account opening processes, verify documentation, and monitor deferred documents until completion.
• Ensure vault cash balances reconcile with ledger balances and remain within approved insurance limits.
• Supervise electronic banking operations, including online banking services and debit card issuance, activation, and blocking.
• Prepare and submit operational and regulatory reports accurately and within required timelines.
• Monitor branch operating expenses and implement effective budget and cost-control measures.
• Coordinate correspondence with financial institutions and ensure timely reconciliation of bank statements.
• Maintain confidentiality, security, and integrity of customer information and banking records.
• Ensure operational staff are adequately trained and updated on banking policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with a minimum of Second Class Lower, or an HND with Upper Credit.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in banking operations.
• Professional management certification will be an added advantage.
• Strong knowledge of banking regulations, operational procedures, and compliance requirements.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• High level of attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other relevant banking software.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and customer service skills.

Salary

₦300,000 per month
