Job Description

Moniepoint Incorporated is seeking an experienced Head, Product Control & Accounting professional to bridge Finance, Product, and Technology. The role focuses on ensuring that new products, features, pricing changes, and transaction flows are properly designed from an accounting, financial reporting, and control perspective before launch.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the technical accounting partner to Product and Engineering teams for new products, features, and pricing changes.
  • Prepare technical accounting memos and position papers covering areas such as IFRS 15, IFRS 9, fee income, and interest income.
  • Design, build, and maintain the chart of accounts for new and existing products across entities.
  • Map customer journey stages, including onboarding, transactions, settlement, fees, reversals, and write-offs, to the appropriate GL treatment.
  • Review product and engineering specifications before launch to identify accounting and control gaps.
  • Own reconciliations between product or transaction system data and the general ledger, resolving discrepancies at source.
  • Design and document controls for new product flows, including maker-checker processes, reconciliations, and exception handling.
  • Maintain up-to-date accounting treatment documentation for each product as products and features evolve.
  • Partner with Financial Control, Internal Audit, and external auditors on product-related accounting and control matters.

Requirements
  • ACA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Minimum of 8 years of post-qualification experience, including experience in Big 4 technical accounting or audit.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, particularly IFRS 15 for revenue recognition and IFRS 9 for financial instruments.
  • Proven experience translating product or system designs into accounting treatments and general ledger structures.
  • Ability to understand product specifications and communicate effectively with engineers and product managers.
  • Experience with accounting and financial controls within complex product or transaction environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in payments, fintech, banking, or related financial services.
  • Experience with transaction or ledger system design.
  • Previous experience designing or restructuring a chart of accounts for a multi-product platform.
  • Exposure to regulatory reporting requirements such as CBN, FCA, CBK, or equivalent regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience working within or alongside agile Product and Engineering teams.

  • Accounting and control-related audit findings are minimized.
  • Product and Engineering teams view Finance as a strategic design partner throughout the product development process.
