About the Role

A detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join a team in Dawano, Kano. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the company’s financial operations within the commodity sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records, including ledgers, accounts payable/receivable, and reconciliations.
• Prepare financial statements, reports, and tax filings in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Monitor and analyze commodity pricing, cost structures, and financial risks.
• Utilize accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, SAP, or any ERP system) for efficient financial management.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and industry regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience in the commodity or related sector (e.g., agriculture, trading, oil & gas, mining).
• Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, SAP, or any ERP system.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• High level of integrity and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.
• ICAN, ACCA, or other professional certification (or in progress) is an added advantage.
• Experience working with commodity traders, manufacturers, or suppliers is preferred.
• Knowledge of supply chain finance and commodity hedging is a plus.
