Job Overview
A leading indigenous non-profit organization focused on improving healthcare delivery, research, and medical training across Nigeria is hiring a Senior Nutrition Specialist for the USAID-funded THRIVE South Project. This five-year initiative supports the health and resilience of individuals across Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Edo, and Lagos States. The role is based in Lagos and involves leading nutrition-focused interventions for orphans and vulnerable children (OVC), ensuring alignment with national protocols and project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership on nutrition services for OVC, including care plan development and community-based nutrition interventions.
- Conduct nutrition assessments and surveillance to identify gaps and monitor program impact.
- Train and build the capacity of CSO staff, healthcare workers, and caregivers on nutrition and Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) strategies.
- Design and implement nutrition-focused SBCC campaigns, including message development, community mobilization, and stakeholder engagement.
- Develop and distribute culturally appropriate nutrition education materials and track outcomes using M&E tools.
- Coordinate with government agencies, NGOs, and community leaders to integrate nutrition services into broader health systems.
Required Qualifications
- A degree (B.Sc, MSc, PGD) in Public Health, Nutrition, or a related field.
- In-depth technical knowledge of nutrition in the context of HIV/AIDS and OVC programs.
- Experience working with national/international guidelines on malnutrition and MIYCN.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and training skills.
