Job Description

Payment Access System Limited (PaySys), a fintech company operating within Nigeria’s digital financial ecosystem, is seeking an experienced Managing Director to provide strategic, operational, financial, and regulatory leadership. This role requires a proven leader capable of driving growth, ensuring compliance, scaling fintech products, and building a high-performing organization across both early-stage and mature operational phases.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead the development and execution of the company’s growth and expansion strategy, with a focus on market penetration and service diversification
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization, providing strategic direction and effective leadership across all teams
• Drive revenue growth, profitability, and return on investment through sound financial management and performance optimization
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) across business units and cost centres to ensure strategic and financial objectives are met
• Establish and maintain robust risk management and governance frameworks to mitigate operational, financial, and regulatory risks
• Ensure full compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, proactively addressing compliance and audit matters
• Drive innovation and new product development aligned with market trends and customer needs
• Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and stakeholder engagements to strengthen brand positioning
• Build and maintain strong relationships with regulators, partners, investors, and other key stakeholders
• Attract, develop, and retain top talent while promoting continuous professional development and strong organizational culture

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field
• Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) is an added advantage
• Relevant professional certifications in finance, compliance, risk management, or technology are desirable

Required Experience
• Minimum of 15–20 years of progressive leadership experience, preferably within fintech, banking, financial services, or technology-driven organizations
• Proven experience leading startups and/or scaling businesses
• Strong understanding of digital financial products, payment systems, lending platforms, or financial infrastructure
• Demonstrated experience engaging regulators and managing regulatory compliance frameworks
