Job Description
A reputable cooperative organization in Abuja is seeking an experienced and results-driven Managing Director to provide strategic leadership and oversee the day-to-day operations of the cooperative. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving membership growth, strengthening financial performance, managing loan and credit operations, supervising staff, and ensuring sustainable business growth while maintaining strong governance and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and management of the cooperative’s daily operations and report to the Board/Executive Committee.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase membership, savings mobilization, and business growth.
- Oversee loan marketing, credit appraisal, loan disbursement, monitoring, recovery, and portfolio performance.
- Supervise accounting functions, financial reporting processes, cash flow management, and internal control systems.
- Lead, mentor, and manage staff to ensure high performance, accountability, and excellent service delivery.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, cooperative policies, risk management procedures, and audit standards.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with members, community groups, businesses, and institutions within Kubwa and surrounding areas.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, profitability, and member satisfaction.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Banking & Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Marketing, Cooperative Management, or a related commercial/social science discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience, including at least 5 years in a management position within a cooperative, microfinance bank, financial institution, or credit organization.
- Strong background in credit administration, loan management, accounting, financial controls, and business development.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to manage teams and drive organizational growth.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a results-oriented approach.
- Ability to manage member relations, staff performance, and challenging situations professionally.
- High level of integrity, accountability, confidence, and self-motivation.
