Job Description

A growing company operating across the pharmaceutical, herbal medicine, and cosmetics sectors is seeking an experienced and results-driven Business Development Executive to lead business growth and market expansion in Nigeria.

Key Responsibilities

Market Penetration & Business Development

  • Develop and execute market entry and expansion strategies across Lagos and other key commercial hubs in Nigeria.
  • Identify, prospect, and secure high-value B2B accounts across hospitals, clinics, retail pharmacies, and major distributors.
  • Generate qualified leads through field visits, networking, digital prospecting, referrals, and industry events.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers within the healthcare and pharmaceutical ecosystem.

Sales Pipeline & Account Closing

  • Manage the complete sales cycle from prospecting and qualification to product presentations, negotiations, and closing.
  • Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline to consistently achieve and exceed monthly and quarterly revenue targets.
  • Identify competitor activities, pricing trends, market gaps, and emerging opportunities to increase market share.
  • Develop tailored commercial proposals and negotiate contracts with prospective clients and strategic partners.

Sales Operations & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate CRM records, including pipeline tracking, deal forecasting, customer activities, and sales updates.
  • Prepare regular sales and commercial intelligence reports for executive management.
  • Monitor sales performance and provide insights to support business growth and market expansion.
  • Ensure sales and marketing activities comply with Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) guidelines and applicable ethical pharmaceutical standards.

Requirements

Education & Certification

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D).
  • Active Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) operating license for the current year.
  • Additional certifications in Marketing, Business Administration, Business Development, or Commercial Management will be an advantage.

Experience & Professional Background

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Sales or Business Development, including at least 3 years in a direct, quota-carrying sales role.
  • Proven track record of acquiring new business rather than focusing solely on account management or maintenance.
  • Experience within pharmaceuticals, herbal medicine, diagnostics, cosmetics, healthcare, or a closely related sector.
  • Established relationships with key industry decision-makers, including Medical Directors, Procurement Managers, Pharmacy Owners, and Distributors.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong business development, negotiation, communication, and closing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities, develop leads, and convert prospects into paying clients.
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of the Nigerian healthcare and pharmaceutical market.
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms such as HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho, or similar tools.
  • Excellent pipeline management, forecasting, reporting, and relationship management skills.
  • Self-motivated, target-driven, strategic, and comfortable working in a fast-paced growth environment.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Performance will be assessed across the following areas:

  • Sales Activity: Cold calls and visits, qualified leads generated, presentations conducted, and proposal conversion rates.
  • Pipeline Health: Pipeline value growth, deal conversion ratios, sales forecasting, and CRM update accuracy.
  • Commercial Impact: Monthly and quarterly revenue achievement, gross profit margin, collections against targets, and account retention.
Remuneration

N1,000,000 – N1,500,000 monthly + Performance Bonus
