Job Description

A Quality Control Officer is needed to ensure that all raw materials, production processes, and finished products meet the required quality standards. This role involves conducting laboratory tests, monitoring production activities, maintaining quality documentation, and ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and NAFDAC regulations. The ideal candidate should have strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and experience in quality control within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect and approve incoming raw materials, fragrances, bottles, caps, labels, and other packaging materials to ensure they meet required specifications.
  • Monitor production processes including mixing, filling, capping, and labeling to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct routine quality checks on pH, viscosity, colour, odour, weight, and fill volume during production.
  • Sample and test finished products before batch release and maintain accurate batch records and Certificates of Analysis (COA).
  • Maintain quality control logs, deviation reports, and non-conformance records while supporting NAFDAC inspections and audits.
  • Enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), hygiene, and safety standards across the production facility.
  • Investigate customer complaints and product quality issues, recommending corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with the Production and Research & Development teams to minimise waste, reduce rework, and improve product quality.

Requirements
  • BSc or HND in Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a related science discipline.
  • 3 to 5 years of quality control experience in FMCG, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, or the food and beverage industry. Experience with beauty or hair care products is an added advantage.
  • Hands-on experience using laboratory equipment such as pH meters, viscometers, weighing scales, and moisture analysers.
  • Good understanding of NAFDAC regulations and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, documentation, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Must be resident in Lagos.
  • High level of integrity with the confidence to reject substandard materials or finished products.
