Job Description

Verstand Resources is recruiting a skilled and experienced Production / Factory Manager for a cable manufacturing company in Lagos. The role involves overseeing daily factory operations, ensuring efficient production processes, maintaining quality standards, and driving operational excellence across the manufacturing plant.

The ideal candidate should possess strong technical knowledge of cable production processes, factory management, machinery operations, and workforce supervision within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily production activities to achieve manufacturing targets efficiently.
  • Oversee cable manufacturing processes including wire drawing, stranding, insulation, extrusion, armoring, and final winding operations.
  • Ensure all manufactured products comply with SON, NIS, IEC, ISO, and other relevant quality standards.
  • Monitor production output, minimize downtime, and reduce material wastage across the factory floor.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to implement preventive maintenance schedules for production machinery and equipment.
  • Optimize the use of raw materials such as copper, aluminum, PVC compounds, and steel wires to improve operational efficiency.
  • Enforce strict Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Manage factory staff, production shifts, productivity targets, and performance KPIs.
  • Oversee routine quality testing including tensile strength, conductivity, and insulation resistance tests.
  • Prepare operational reports and recommend process improvements to increase productivity and reduce manufacturing costs.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Production Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in manufacturing operations.
  • At least 4 years of supervisory or management experience within a cable manufacturing, wire production, or heavy plastics extrusion plant.
  • Strong technical understanding of wire drawing, annealing, extrusion, and cable production processes.
  • Excellent leadership, workforce management, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and production management software.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and operational planning abilities.
  • Good knowledge of factory safety regulations and quality assurance procedures.
