Job Description

A remote opportunity is available for an experienced Data Scientist with strong expertise in Large Language Models (LLMs), machine learning, and AI systems. The role focuses on developing, evaluating, and optimizing production-grade LLM solutions for complex use cases across finance, legal, and operations. Candidates with hands-on experience building, fine-tuning, and deploying AI models in real-world environments are encouraged to apply.

Location: Remote

Responsibilities
  • Analyze production logs to identify recurring LLM failure patterns and areas for improvement.
  • Design and implement custom evaluation frameworks beyond standard AI performance metrics.
  • Fine-tune and align language models using techniques such as LoRA, DPO, and full fine-tuning.
  • Build, optimize, and maintain Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines with high precision and recall.
  • Develop AI guardrail systems, including classifiers, confidence scoring, and rule-based validation layers.
  • Document model failure cases and communicate findings with engineering and product teams.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to deploy and monitor AI models in production.
  • Manage the complete machine learning lifecycle, including data collection, training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.

Requirements
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in Data Science or Machine Learning Engineering.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience working with Large Language Models (LLMs) in production environments.
  • Strong proficiency in Python programming.
  • Proven experience building and deploying custom AI and machine learning models beyond API integrations.
  • Demonstrated experience developing LLM-based projects that required identifying and resolving real-world model failures.
  • Deep understanding of transformer architectures, attention mechanisms, and modern language models.
  • Experience using PyTorch, Hugging Face Transformers, LangChain, or comparable AI frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of retrieval systems, including vector databases, hybrid search, and reranking techniques.
  • Familiarity with MLOps tools such as MLflow, Weights & Biases, and Kubernetes.
  • Solid software engineering skills, including testing, version control, and code review best practices.
